Favourite Workout Song: Push Up (by The Freestylers)
In 2003 I weighed 108 kg's, 5' 11" in height. I gained a lot of weight after crashing an armoured vehicle while In the Army and sustained a neck injury. At that time in 1998 I was a 90 kg healthy young man playing footy, active, living a happy normal life within the Australian Defence Force.
After a medical discharge in April 2000, I became very depressed, ate a lot of junk food, became a home body, could not play sport, did not want to be around people. The only happiness I found was through food. As I became more obese I was not sleeping properly, was always tired, moody, had frequent headaches and just felt terrible.
I weighed myself on some industrial scales at a steel recycle yard, it said 108kg's. I was embarrassed. During 2003 I was still on a rehabilitation program for my neck injury and as my neck became better with the rehab program, I started to increase my workouts.
I was determined to live a healthier lifestyle by eating healthy food and to exercise on regular basis. I changed alcohol to water and McDonalds to chicken stirfry, started walking and running everyday.
My first goal was to weigh under 105kg's, then 100kg's. Setting small goals and being consistent with exercise is the key. Every day became a new day for me, each day I was healthier and feeling better. The weight was coming off and in no time I was back to 90kg's. After about 3 to 4 months I weighed as low as 80 kg's.
After losing all that weight, I have promised myself that I will never return to that old lifestyle again.
In 2005 I Graduated as a Personal Trainer through the Australian Institute of Fitness, and started my own successful Personal Training business, where I now help other people achieve their dream health and fitness goals. Through my Military experience, un-healthy lifestyle, then my new healthy lifestyle, I have already helped a number of people live a healthier and happier life.

108 kg's in 2003/04, then 80 kg's in 05.

'Do nothing....get nothing'
I have always had an interest and passion in physical fitness and how the body and mind work. I can remember being on the cricket field often thinking I would rather be doing something else more physically demanding and exciting! In 2006 the Air Force posted me to an Army Unit where physical training (PT), battle PT and drill were a daily occurrence, and I loved it! I enjoyed the teamwork, the constant challenges and testing myself, pushing personal boundaries and comfort zones provided by such an environment.
In January 2007, I was promoted to Sergeant and posted back to my home town of Adelaide. Upon returning I found that I had a void to fill with regards to my previous years experiences. I attended Original Bootcamp Corps Training in February 2007 with some work friends and found I loved it. It wasn't too dissimilar to the training I had experienced, if anything it was harder in some ways.
In May 2007 Rob Coad approached me to become a Trainer. I commenced instructing Bootcamp in August 2007, which I'm forever grateful to Rob Coad for. I find it extremely satisfying to know that I have helped others achieve their health and fitness goals and to observe the physical and mental changes within people. My military training has shown me that we can all do so much more than we think and the Bootcamp program provides this to the public.
As a Trainer from a values based background in the Military I'm a big believer in respect, integrity, flexibility, commitment, self-discipline, and plain old hard work. I believe in short but intense training and have the ability to motivate clients to achieve their goals. Outstanding results can be achieved in a relatively short period of time through the intelligent application of exercise principles, hard work and self-discipline.
So if you are up to being trained by someone who is going to challenge, motivate and probe your weaknesses to help you realise your dreams and goals, then don't put it off any longer.
Are you happy with average?
I'm not!

Ever since I can remember I was overweight and unfit. When I was at high school I was always one of the kids that was left to last when there were selections for team sports.
As I grew older I became more conscious of my size and shape and wanted to do something about it. I initially thought diet was the answer. Through crash diets I went from 113 kg down to 93 kg in a period of 6 months. I felt great, but the problem was I started a desk job and crash diets don't last forever, so slowly over the next 2 years I crept back up to 108 kg. where I stayed for about 3-4 years.
Early 2007 Rob Coad spoke to me about Bootcamp. The lazy side of me tried to come up with every excuse I could think of to not do Bootcamp, but Rob had an answer for each one of my excuses. I finally caved and started training with him. Over the next year, through training and minor diet changes, I lost 15 kg and have become fitter than I could ever imagine.
Now my goal is to help anyone who wants to change their Life for the better by helping them improve their health and fitness.

I have been passionate about fitness and sport for as long as I can remember. I had been a regular gym goer for many years but in 2007 a friend introduced me to The Original Bootcamp and I haven’t looked back since. As both an instructor and a recruit I get to see both perspectives which I feel provides me with a greater ability to encourage and motivate the recruits to reach their goals. Whether you are looking for something outside the square to enhance your existing fitness routine, looking for a new challenge or are a complete fitness novice - Bootcamp is for you!
In October 2007 I also commenced instructing a fitness class for a group of people with Spina Bifida. This has been incredibly rewarding and challenging work which allows me to be creative in getting the very best out of my participants.
My goal is to help people achieve their health and fitness goals regardless of their fitness backgrounds or limitations. Where there’s a will there’s a WAY!

In 2004 was feeling the effects overtraining and suffered a number of minor injuries, however I continued to train and over time tore a major muscle in my leg. Due to lack of self care and proper rehabilitation I tore the same muscle in my other leg which resulted in me not being able to walk for some time. After a long rehabilitation period I eventually began to walk without pain. In 2007 I met Rob Coad, Rob encouraged me to do boot camp which has helped me to lose weight and regain my fitness, but best of all I have learnt to love physical activity again.
I have a diverse set of skills in nutrition, medical research (focusing on pregnancy health) as well as in the fitness arena. I have completed a bachelor of biological science and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) at CSIRO, Human Nutrition and with the University of Adelaide, School of Medicine. Before starting my PhD I worked for the CSIRO in virology. This position gave me the opportunity to work with viruses and I began understand genetics. This intrigued me and I decided that I wanted to understand more about human genetics and how our diet and exercise affects not only our appearance but also the health of our DNA (the building blocks for life).
In 2008 I Graduated as a Personal Trainer through the Australian Institute of Fitness. I hope to help people achieve a healthy, fulfilling life through optimising diet and lifestyle factors to improve overall health, particularly during pregnancy.
